The Guild Mark
The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers is the Livery Company for the British Furniture Industry. Its purpose is to enhance and support that industry. Perhaps the most important way it does so is by encouraging public recognition of excellence by the grant of its Guild Marks to furniture judged to be outstanding by the Company’s Juries. Guild Marks for Bespoke Furniture are awarded for pieces made as single items or in small batches.
A designer and maker who has been awarded a Bespoke Guild Mark can justifiably claim to be one of the best furniture craftsmen in Britain.
Bespoke Guild Marks were awarded to Huw as follows: BGM 191 (Gentlemans Cabinet), BGM 194 (Lyrical Lectern), BGM 221 (?), BGM 272 (Vesuvius Table), BGM 290 (Yin Yang Fish Box). Full descriptions of the pieces can be seen on other pages on this site.
Huw works to commission and would be happy to design a piece to your specification.
